Ricciardo warns Vettel for impatience at important choice

Many thought that Sebastian Vettel, as 4-time world champion, would not be interested in a team in midfield. But now that Red Bull and especially Mercedes seem excluded, and Vettel has indicated not wanting to stop, a team in midfield (like a future Aston Martin) suddenly seems a real option.

His former teammate Daniel Ricciardo also believes Vettel would enter "unknown territory" in the midfield. "I don't know the stats exactly, but he was probably on the podium every year in Formula One. Maybe not for one year," he says to Motorsport-Total.

Ricciardo warns for impatience

Ricciardo himself switched last year from top team Red Bull to the weaker Renault. He knows better than anyone what it is like to take a step back, with an eye for the future: "I think it certainly takes some patience, but where he sees the next chapter of his career is up to him. He can't just commit himself for twelve months. It has to be at least 24 months or three years," says the Australian. Since the number of seats available is getting smaller and smaller, Vettel's choice is not far off.
