With several Grands Prix having been postponed, it's becoming more difficult for Formula 1 to make up for lost time later in the year, with it seemingly being inevitable some of the races will have to be cancelled altogether.

In MotoGP, they haven't given up hope just yet on driving all races, and they are prepared to go to great lengths to facilitate each Grand Prix. Jorge Viegas, president of the FIM (the FIA for two-wheeled racing, basically) has indicated he's willing to let the 2020 season bleed into 2021 if this is needed to let the 2020 season count as an official season. In MotoGP, you have to do at least 13 races for a season to count.

"We'll do everything to make the championship valid," Viegas says in an interview with La Tribune de Geneve

"If needed, we'll continue in January 2021, that's not a taboo for us." Viegas does add the safety of everyone will still come first.

Racing in 2021 an option for F1?

In Formula 1, this would be much more difficult to execute. The sport is currently preparing for completely new regulations in 2021, and January 2021 would be spent testing their brand-new cars. Besides, there is no rule in F1 for a minimum number of races having to be driven.
