Over the last 50 days, GPblog has been listing each of our top 50 drivers of all-time. Ayrton Senna managed topped the list, with Michael Schumacher and Jim Clark rounding off the podium. Both Lewis Hamilton and Juan Manuel Fangio were also inside the top five. But who sits at the top of your list? Vote in our poll at the bottom of the page.

Ayrton Senna

"Senna’s passing left a huge hole in the F1 world. The highest-profile driver of the time, a national hero in Brazil and the favourite for the title despite trailing Schumacher, Senna’s death rocked not just F1 and not just sport, but the world.

He gave us some of the most emotional moments in F1 history, such as his win on home soil in 1991, or when he overtook four cars on one lap at Donington in 1993. There are countless more moments like this, but I’ve got a word count to stick to."

Michael Schumacher

"Schumacher changed the game for F1. His determination and obsession with winning made him a serial competitor, and whilst Lewis Hamilton is edging closer to his records, Schumacher will always remain among the kings of Formula 1."

Jim Clark

"Clark was a man who could win in any car, a true natural at the wheel and some would say the most talented driver there ever was. With statistics talked about so much these days.

"He won 50% of the races he entered and left a huge hole in the sport following his death. Clark truly deserves his name to be among the greats of F1, and it will stay there forever."

Lewis Hamilton

"Whether you like him or not, Hamilton’s raw ability has to be admired. His raw speed, race management and ability to wring everything out of the car makes him one of the greatest ever, with his achievements some of the best we have ever seen in the sport.

"Come back in a few years and he could quite easily be even higher. He certainly deserves his sport amongst the legends of Formula 1."

Juan Manuel Fangio

"He won the title once again, his fifth, a record that wasn’t matched until Michael Schumacher grabbed his fifth title in 2002. Fangio was a true trailblazer of F1, the sport’s first real superstar and a man that will always be talked about among the greats."
