Daniel Ricciardo has admitted that he thought he would have achieved a “World title or three” by the age of 30 but insists that he’s not there yet and not done”.

Ricciardo entered Formula 1 in 2011 with HRT before moving to Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri) for two seasons in 2012, achieving several points finishes.

The Austrlian was then stepped up by Red Bull for 2014 after the retirement of Mark Webber to partner four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel.

Ricciardo showed his talent in his debut season for the team winning in Canada, Hungary and Belgium, as well as five extra podium finishes to finish third in the championship and ahead of Vettel.

Since then the 30-year old added another four victories to his name with Red Bull during Mercedes’ dominance of the hybrid era.

But now entering his second season with Renault he admits he thought he would have won at least one World Championship by now.

“It’s what I certainly aimed to have, but if I’m really honest with you, after my year in 2014, if I then look at 2020, I would’ve expected a World title or three,” he said to Formula 1.

“From 2014 onwards, I’m certainly not surprised, if anything I’m a little bit underwhelmed.

“But in 2011, to put myself here and to know the impact I’ve had in the sport and where I’ve put myself, then for sure I’m happy, I’m proud.

“But I’m not there yet and not done.”
