Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel says “we are trying everything we can” to solve their issues with low speed and high downforce corners after recent pressure from Red Bull and attempt to catch Mercedes on those types of tracks.

The Scuderia have failed to win a race so far this season, coming close in Bahrain where Charles Leclerc’s car ran into engine troubles while in first place, in Canada despite Vettel crossing the line first a five-second time penalty dropped him to second and Max Verstappen just getting the better of them in Austria.

Updates were brought in at the Hungarian Grand Prix but they weren’t enough as both cars finished over a minute from Lewis Hamilton, something the German believes won’t be a quick fix.

Vettel said to Formula 1: “We know that in the corners we struggle and the nature of race tracks, they have corners in them.

“So we would like to build a car faster in the corners.

“We are trying everything we can but currently it’s not enough.

“I think everybody knows, everybody saw and everybody understands, but it’s not easy to come up with magic solutions.

“You always look for a silver bullet, but I’ve never come across a guy that’s actually found it in over 10 years.

“We keep looking, though that’s where we are.”

Despite their issues with low speed corners Ferrari have proven that their car is one of, if not, the fastest in a straight line, something that will suit them more at the upcoming races in Spa and Monza.

“On paper, Spa, Monza, should be a bit better for us – but we need to confirm,” he said.
