Ferrari are expecting its performane to improve this weekend as they prepare for round two of the Formula 1 season that takes place in Bahrain this weekend.

It was a near-disaster for Scuderia in Australia, with Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, but it was a massive drop-off to what we saw from last season's runners-up from Barcelona pre-season testing.

Previewing the Bahrain Grand Prix, Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto pointed out the importance to react from last weekend's disappointment at the Bahrein International Circuit.

"The Sakhir Circuit has very different characteristics to the Australian one, with traction and braking being key factors," Binotto explained. "In Bahrain, as a team, we will have to ensure that we have understood and rectified the areas where we were weak in Australia, which therefore meant we were unable to fully exploit our car's potential.

"In Bahrain, we expect to see the effect of the corrections we have made, although we are well aware that our competitors will once again be very strong. With that in mind, we are keen to get back on track and face up to them."

Ferrari already have ground to catch up to title rivals Mercedes, who dominated in Australia - with Valtteri Bottas driving a perfect race for his first victory since 2017 and Lewis Hamilton, who was on pole originally, settling for a second-place finish.
