Schumacher: Williams lacks cohesion within the team

Schumacher: Williams "lacks cohesion within the team"

Ralf Schumacher believes that Williams are unable to reach their maximum potential because of the climate and structure of their management and their lack of team cohesion as they look to recover from their poor start.

Williams finished last in 2018 and were late to 2019 pre-season testing after their car was not ready and Paddy Lowe left just before the start of the season. They were way off the pace at the Australian Grand Prix with both their drivers finishing last of the cars that completed the race.

In an interview with Motorsport-Total Schumacher commented on the structure of the management saying: “With the current management structure, Williams fails to extract the maximum from its employees because it lacks cohesion within the team.

“Engineers are fighting more against themselves than together.

“I think Williams needs to revise her leadership, Claire is struggling to be at her father's level.”

Paddy Lowe left his role as technical officer citing personal reasons and Schumacher commented on his absence from the team.

“Paddy Lowe won everywhere, but in Williams he was not even able to bring the 2019 car in time to Barcelona before being fired,” he added.
