A filmmaker with a soft spot for Ronnie Peterson, Gilles Villeneuve, Mika Hakkinen and above all, Tazio Nuvolari and Ayrton Senna, is also a diehard Formula One fan since the age of 4 (mid-90's). An avid researcher of the past of Grand Prix Racing since before it was even named F1, and with a thirst for knowledge of the ins and outs of the actuality of the sport, as well as for the technical aspects that define it, is a member of GPblog since 2023, where he has put his love of racing to good use.
One driver after another tested an old F1 car in recent weeks, some drivers have already had the shakedown with their new cars. And Max Verstappen? The Red Bull Racing driver reported to his employer's factory later than his F1 colleagues. Not that Verstappen was slacking off in the meantime. Instead he was quietly preparing himself for what will undoubtedly be a long and hectic season.
The booing by some of the British fans during the F1 75 event had yet to occurr, but Verstappen issued a clear statement on preferences regarding how to best spend his Tuesday evening. "I'd rather be at home, I can prepare more for the season," he told Dutch press, including GPblog.
"I also tried to do that as much as possible in January, to do this kind of thing as late as possible. So actually January was very nice. A lot of training at home, stable weeks, so to speak, a normal rhythm. Now it's a few final weeks before it starts and it's different again; a few days of training and now again, not, because you're on the road."
Verstappen does not want to venture a prediction
Everyone wants to know the same thing at the moment: Can Verstappen clinch his fifth title on the trot in 2025? This early in the season, Verstappen says he has no idea. After all, his RB21 has yet to make its first run. "In all the years I've experienced the winter months, it's never been 100 per cent clear how good or how bad something is. That's why I'm neutral on it, I'll just wait until I've driven the car myself. Then you know a bit more," concluded the Red Bull Racing driver.
