Vasseur adamant Ferrari should've got pole position: 'We're frustrated'

Fred Vasseur has claimed Ferrari feel frustrated after finishing P2 and P3 in qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix. The boss of the Italian teams believes more was possible in the United States, as he plans to hunt down pole-sitter Max Verstappen.

Verstappen has now secured seven consecutive pole positions. A Ferrari has shared the front row with Verstappen on five of those occasions. The Italian team are hoping to be the team to put an end to Verstappen's run. Vasseur believes that could've happened in Miami.

"We are a bit frustrated, because I think we didn't put everything together in qualifying. But overall, it's a good session. Starting from P2, P3 is a good result. It was quite difficult to manage. With the softs, you are really on the edge, and it's quite easy to make mistakes. On the last stint, when everybody pushed a little bit more, it was quite often over the limit," Vasseur told Viaplay.

How Vasseur plans to topple Verstappen in Miami

According to Vasseur, Ferrari can draw confidence from the pace Ferrari demonstrated in the sprint race. The team scored 11 points but failed to advance from their starting grid spots. The 55-year-old targets one specific area.

"We were perhaps one-tenth off compared to Max. But overall, it was under control. Tomorrow we have to do a step. We have to try to catch the DRS from the beginning because it's really powerful, and Max was very strong this morning on the opening laps. Perhaps that's where we have to make a step," Vasseur concluded.
