The number of Formula 1 races has increased in recent years. The sport is growing and so many countries want a place on the F1 calendar. GD Today reports that there is interest from China for a new circuit for motorsport's royal class, but that is not the only circuit in Asia that would like to be on the calendar.

Second Chinese Grand Prix on the way?

Plans for a new Formula One circuit are underway in Guangdong, 1,200 kilometres southwest of Shanghai. Next week, the latter city will host its first Grand Prix in five years, and now there is interest in a second Chinese Grand Prix.

South Korea wants to return to the F1 calendar

It does not stop there, as Korean news agency Yonhap reports that there are also plans for a Grand Prix in South Korea. This is being planned for Incheon, a city adjacent to the capital Seoul. A race already took place in South Korea between 2010 and 2013. Fernando Alonso won the first edition, after which Sebastian Vettel managed to finish first in the three editions that followed.

The mayor of Incheon, Yoo Jeong-bok expressed his wishes: "Incheon is the best place to host F1, as it has a transportation network such as Incheon Airport and Incheon Port and many luxury accommodations. We will begin full-scale discussions to host F1 Incheon."
