Max Verstappen has won the Japanese Grand Prix. The Dutchman started from P1 ahead of Sergio Perez, whom he managed to keep behind him throughout. During the race, there was an altercation between Gianpiero Lambiase (Verstappen's race engineer) and the Red Bull driver himself. Verstappen declared afterwards that GP was right.

Verstappen said he went from understeer to oversteer and that an adjustment to the front wing setup might be needed. Lambiase responded to Verstappen with: "I won't say 'I told you so', but..." After the race, Verstappen explained that it was indeed his fault and that GP was right.

Verstappen admits his mistake

"We didn't have an argument, but he said: 'Are you sure you want to do this (adjust the front wing setting, ed.)?' I'm like: 'Yes, I'm pretty sure.' It turned out to be wrong. So he was right," Verstappen says honestly.

There were also more frequent altercations between Verstappen and GP last season, but the 26-year-old driver says Lambiase is a very nice colleague, with whom he maintains a good relationship. "I'll still try to be as consistent as I can be without shouting back at him, but we have a great relationship, and yes, it works well like that."
