Guenther Steiner feels Lewis Hamilton has made a good transfer for the second time in his career. Ferrari is on the rise and that is the team the Briton will be in action for next year.

Hamilton surprised friend and foe in 2012 by announcing he would leave McLaren. In 2013, he traded McLaren for Mercedes, who were in the midfield. Not much later, that decision turned out to be the best decision ever. Now Hamilton faces a switch from Mercedes to Ferrari in 2025.

What can Hamilton do at Ferrari?

"It looks like he is making the right decision," Steiner said in a conversation with Sky Sports News. "He did it when he left McLaren to go to Mercedes, so maybe he got this one right as well. But I think for him it's more about the new challenge. He has been at the team for 11 years, won six championships, good relationships there. I think it's just the last step of his career he wants a new challenge. And obviously, your last challenge being Ferrari, it's a nice thing to have the opportunity to do."

Hamilton has never hidden his desire to win his eighth world title. Is that possible at Ferrari? "I think nothing is impossible. In 2026, there are completely new regulations for the engine and chassis. The cars will be redone then. If he has some luck and Ferrari makes a good car, he could just win his eighth championship."

Steiner has also been back in the spotlight himself in recent weeks. The former Haas team boss featured as an analyst for German TV and also did interviews with the top three after the Australian Grand Prix. Formula 1 also announced that Steiner will be the new ambassador for the Miami GP later this season.
