Brundle makes extraordinary discovery: 'Then Sainz leads in the Standings'

Carlos Sainz advertised himself well by winning the Australian Grand Prix. That is what Martin Brundle thinks, he tells in his column for Sky Sports.

Brundle is impressed with Sainz, who showed his best side despite his appendicitis: "Even when I chatted to him on the grid just before the race, I was perturbed that he still looked fragile and moved more slowly than normal after his surgery for appendicitis. There was nothing slow-moving about his race pace though, he was sensational throughout."

'Then Sainz would have led the World Championship'

For next season, Sainz is still looking for a new team. In early February, it was announced that Lewis Hamilton will move to Ferrari, forcing the Spaniard to leave the team. However, few people think the current Ferrari driver will fail to find a seat in 2025. Teammate Charles Leclerc already said he was sure the Australian Grand Prix winner was in talks with several team bosses.

Brundle is also little worried about Sainz's future: "In his words he is "jobless" for next year, and that was one hell of an advert for his talents yet again. If he'd driven in Jeddah, it's highly likely he'd be leading the world championship now."
