Haas F1's Kevin Magnussen was disappointed to finish qualifying as low as P13 for the American team, but the 26-year-old insists that "it's not over" for him in terms of scoring points for him and for his team.

Haas will truly need a miracle at this point to overtake Renault for fourth place in the constructors' championship, with the French works team leading by 24 points ahead of the final race of the season.

That means that they'll need at least one car on the podium and the other one very near it. With Romain Grosjean qualifying best of the rest in P7, a miracle could be in the making, but Magnussen will have to fight his way through the field as well. His pace will need to improve drastically, though.

“I didn’t quite have the pace today for some reason," the Dane admitted to F1i.com.

"I was just a little bit behind. The car was obviously good for Romain. He seems to be going well this weekend.

"Who knows, though, maybe it’s an advantage tomorrow to not start in the top ten. Hopefully, it is.

"If you can’t get in front of the midfield in seventh or around there, it’s possibly better to be 11th. I’m 13th and it’s still not over from there, that’s for sure. We’ll see what we can do tomorrow.”

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner had already admitted that it would be impossible for the American team to overtake Renault.
