After his departure as team boss of Haas, Guenther Steiner no longer has a permanent position in Formula 1, but the Italian can still be found in the paddock every race. Also in Melbourne, Steiner walks around ánd gives his opinion on all kinds of matters in Formula 1. Steiner also sees the turmoil surrounding Christian Horner happening and there may be an opportunity at Red Bull Racing as a result.

"Ha ha, I don't think so," Steiner laughingly responds in the Telegraph, about the idea of succeeding Horner. "Fuck, can you imagine it?" Only to then add: "Yes, I could. Do I believe I could do it? Yes. But it's a very competitive environment," Steiner says.

What he is certain of is that he was not working under ideal conditions at Haas. Steiner now says he stayed "too long". "At some point you realise, 'I'm not going to get there', because it's like standing at a traffic light and there's, I don't know, with a Skoda... and there's a Ferrari next to you. Can I drive away faster at the start? I don't think so, mate. It will never happen."

So even though Steiner cannot be found at a pit wall for the time being, he is active as an analyst for various media outlets. In Australia, the Italian is working as a commentator.
