Former Dutch F1 driver: 'Horner behaves as if he is bigger than the team'

The appeal of the Red Bull employee who accused Christian Horner of inappropriate behaviour has caused opinions and speculation to flare up again. Former F1 driver Christijan Albers shares his views on the case.

In his column in De Telegraph, Albers is clear about what he thinks of the Red Bull Racing team boss's behaviour. After the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, Christian Horner said no one is bigger than the team. Not even Max Verstappen's influence. According to Albers, Horner does behave as if he is bigger than the team. "By excessively walking around the paddock in Bahrain with his wife and shouting that he built the team," the Dutchman said.

According to the F1 analyst, what matters now is that the 50-year-old team boss takes control of the situation. "For my part, Horner should still swim to Monaco to sit down with Verstappen, purely to make sure the team stays together. As team boss, you shouldn't start pointing fingers at others. He has to make sure that things collide again between the parties. That is much more important than some one-liners," Albers said in his column.

Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen, incidentally, said in Australia that all the rumours and speculation surrounding Red Bull Racing do not distract him. It is as easy for him as before to perform well. Therefore, this is definitely reflected in his current victory streak.
