Wolff won't use this excuse unlike his rival: 'We had to adapt'

Toto Wolff, despite the team's mediocre performance, does like the commitment they have shown in recent years, he said after the race in Saudi Arabia. However, he does think the car still has enough potential to compete.

"It’s been two years. There is something which we need to spot and that's the thing to unlock. It’s not by lack of trying. We have pushed so hard. With more data to understand and come back even stronger. We are on a mission. I am 100% sure we will unlock the performance." said Toto Wolff, who has to look back at a seventh and ninth place finish for his drivers.

Jab at Horner

Wolff also mocked Red Bull team principal Christian Horner: "I don't want to fall into the trap of my fellow team principal from next door. In 2014 or 2015 he said we should change the regs because we’re too dominant," said Wolff, who wants to stress that he does not think Red Bull are being unfair.

"They have done by far the best job over the last two years. Credit where credit is due. They are disappearing in the distance and nobody is close. They are in a different league. Our sport is an honest sport, and the best performance is being rewarded for machine and man."
