A decision on Christian Horner's future at Red Bull Racing is imminent, and that is just as well, according to Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion says in Bahrain that clarity is needed soon because it is not good for the sport.

Hamilton was asked about the Horner situation in the press conference on Wednesday. "I think it's a difficult one to answer, actually. I think we always have to do more to try to make the sport and the environment that people have to work in feel safe and inclusive. And any allegations has to be taken very seriously," said the Mercedes driver.

Bad for Formula 1

What exactly happened is still unclear, but the Red Bull Racing team boss has been accused of inappropriate behaviour. "Obviously, we don't know everything that's going on. But it does need to be resolved, and it's hanging over the sport. And it will be really interesting to see how it's held, and the effect that it may or may not have on the sport."

In the two weeks before the start of the season, the lead stories haven't been about what Formula 1 should be about. The charge against Horner has been the talk of the day for some time now. Hamilton, therefore, says: "I think it's a really important moment for the sport to make sure that we stand true to our values."

Norris stays quiet

Lando Norris was also asked a question about the Horner issue but was a lot shorter on the subject than his compatriot. "It's got nothing to do with us. For the time being that the investigation is underway, things are happening and so I'm afraid to say I won't answer."
