'Statement from Red Bull shows they would rather lose Horner than lose him'

Reports of Christian Horner's cross-border behaviour seem to stem from the internal power struggle within Red Bull between Helmut Marko and Horner. The internal power struggle seemed appeased, but Horner now seems to really fear for his job.

Back in 2023, rumours emerged of a fierce battle between Marko and Horner. Horner reportedly wanted to seize power at Red Bull Racing, at Marko's expense. All parties denied the rumours at the time and Marko's contract was still extended by Red Bull GmbH, the parent company, until 2026. With that, the turmoil seemed appeased.

On Monday, however, news came out from F1-Insider.com and De Telegraaf that Horner was under internal investigation. Red Bull's parent company gave an extensive statement on the matter when these media asked for a comment. According to The Telegraph, this is a sign of things to come.

According to the Dutch medium, the fact that Red Bull came out with a statement so quickly is another confirmation for Horner that people at Red Bull would rather lose him than get rich. The allegations would be about cross-border behaviour towards at least one employee, which, according to Bild and others, are supported by quite a bit of evidence.
