Carlos Sainz wins Dakar Rally for fourth time

The battle for overall car victory in the Dakar Rally has been decided. Sainz Sr., the father of Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, is the winner of the world-famous event for the fourth time, and he did so in a special way: he took part in the rally for the first time with an electric-powered car from Audi.

He triumphed for the fourth time in this famous event at the age of 61. His lead over his main rival, Sebastian Loeb, was increased earlier in the rally by a breakdown for Loeb. On the final day, all Sainz had to do was finish the stage.

Despite not winning an individual stage, Sainz managed to take advantage of several competitors who crashed. For Audi, who will soon quit this competition to fully focus on their upcoming Formula 1 participation in 2026, this victory was a crowning achievement of their efforts to win the Dakar Rally with an all-electric car.
