At last: new AlphaTauri team boss has started work

The time has come: Laurent Mekies may finally start as team boss of the team currently called AlphaTauri. After years of experience at Ferrari, the Frenchman now gets the chance to take Red Bull Racing's sister team forward. On LinkedIn, the team boss says he is very much looking forward to the period ahead.

Mekies had previously worked for Red Bull Racing's sister team. He initially worked for Minardi, where race engineer for the likes of Mark Webber and Christijan Albers. When Minardi changed to Toro Rosso in 2005, the Frenchman was promoted to chief engineer.

AlphaTauri boss Mekies looks forward to 'new adventure'

So now Mekies is back on the old nest, and now as team boss. "A new adventure starts now, and it is with a great sense of gratefulness that I go from a very special racing family to another very special racing family. We are embarking into an exciting journey, a new chapter for us to write all together, and I can’t wait to work alongside the talented people in Faenza and in Bicester," Mekies explained.
