Ricciardo confirms he will complete season with Red Bull

Daniel Ricciardo has revealed that his outburst after retiring from the Mexican Grand Prix was just a heat of the moment thing.

Riccairdo said “I’m done,” and even suggested that he might hand over his car to Pierre Gasly for the last two races of the season, as the Frenchman is replacing Ricciardo when he moves to Renault for next season.

The Australian has suffered six retirements in the past eleven races, a run which has seen him pick up just fifty points as he has dropped to sixth in the Drivers’ Championship.

Renault engines have been the main problems, and some people are suggesting Ricciardo as shot himself in the foot by joining the Renault team for 2019, a team who are below Red Bull in the constructors’ standings right now.

The seven time race winner’s reaction to his latest retirement had some fans worried that he would not be on the grid in Brazil or Abu Dhabi, but he has confirmed in an Instagram post that he will be there.

He said in a short video: "I just wanted to firstly address a few things from Mexico.

"First ones first, I will be doing the last two races, that's what I'm about. I'm not about that other life.

"It's been obviously massive highs and lows this year, more lows unfortunately.

"It's been frustrating, I won't lie. I look to myself and all the guys who work their butts off to give it two more cracks before we see each other off.

"So I will be there. I just needed a few days off, really. It feels good."
