George Russell saw his teammate Lewis Hamilton removed from the results after the United States Grand Prix. That had everything to do with the plank under the floor of the Mercedes, which did not pass inspection after the race. Russell explains where he thinks things went wrong.

Disqualification for Hamilton surprised Russell

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are the topic of conversation in the Formula 1 world, which has arrived in Mexico. Another topic of conversation is the disqualification of Hamilton and Charles Leclerc after the F1 race at the Circuit of the Americas. That surprised Russell, who was convinced there was nothing wrong with the rejected part.

"Obviously, with the one session in Austin, we did all of the standard checks after FP1, and the plank looked absolutely fine. So there was no reason after the practice session to make any changes, but obviously, we got that very wrong," he explained.

Russell does not foresee the same problems at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and does not think Mercedes will be forced to adjust the ride height this weekend. "I think it's a very different layout here," he said. "I expect the nature of this circuit to be naturally more conservative, and with the three practice sessions, I don't foresee any issues there."
