Mick Schumacher seems to have put a return to Formula 1 out of his mind for the time being. Alpine confirmed that the German Mercedes F1 reserve driver will test in the hypercar, which will race in the World Endurance Championship next season. Schumacher has long been seen by Alpine as one of the favourites to race in this endurance championship.

Schumacher is already taking a seat in the French team's hypercar this Tuesday. This will happen during a test in Jerez, Spain. Bruno Famin confirmed in September that Schumacher was in the picture to come to the French team. Famin is currently Alpine's team boss in Formula 1.

"It's true that we are talking with Mick about the possibility of racing in our endurance programme with the A424. It would be a good opportunity for both parties, I think but for the time being, we are just talking and hopefully, we will organise a test soon," said Famin, who is endurance director of the French brand's entire motorsport division. The test is this Tuesday.

Vettel also named at Alpine

Alpine has two cars in the 2023 season: the first car has an all-French trio of drivers; with Matthieu Vaxiviere, Julien Canal and Charles Milesi. The other car will feature André Negrão, Memo Rojas and Olli Caldwell. It is still unknown who might have to make way for Michael Schumacher's son. Sebastian Vettel is also mentioned as one of the drivers at Alpine in WEC.

It is expected that Schumacher can remain active as Mercedes' test and reserve driver if he chooses an adventure with Alpine.
