The Aston Martin team is still in a fierce battle for fourth place in the constructors' championship. While Mercedes and Ferrari seem to be slowly distancing themselves, McLaren is actually getting closer every race. Team boss Mike Krack sees this too, but is combative to clinch fourth position this year. He hopes his team will be able to turn the tide again in Qatar.

Krack: 'Qatar is similar to Suzuka'

The Luxembourg team boss is looking forward to racing in Qatar again. He sees characteristics of the circuit similar to Suzuka in many respects: "There is a range of medium-speed and high-speed corners, so we can expect similar fortunes, to be honest [as in Japan]." Krack hopes his team can make strides after two disappointing Grands Prix:"We will take the learnings from Singapore and Japan and try to take a step forward. Everybody in the team can play their part: we all have to dig deep if we want to turn the tide."

The team boss further reveals that some minor upgrades will also be bolted onto the AMR23 in Qatar. Krack indicates that these developments throughout the year is the philosophy Aston Martin is following and that minor upgrades will be brought up to and including the last Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi. "So we will not take our foot off the gas at all. We will keep pushing and we want to conclude the season strongly," Krack said.

Fourth place among constructors is goal for Aston Martin

With that, the team boss hopes Aston Martin will manage to keep McLaren behind them in the constructors' standings. A fourth place in this championship is therefore the goal for this year as far as Krack is concerned, although he knows the competition is strong:"With every race we continue to learn and grow together as a team. We are in a fierce battle with some exceptional competitors, but we will not go down without a fight."
