A very familiar name took part in a test at Autodromo do Estoril. The circuit, located 24 kilometres west of Lisbon, was used for a collective Eurocup-3 test. None other than two-time IndyCar champion Alex Palou visited during this test. In fact, his father runs the Palou Motorsport racing team.

Eurocup-3 in Estoril

On 30 September and 1 October, real racing will take place at the Estoril circuit. It is the sixth stage in the Eurocup-3 season. There are eight in total. In July, this class also raced at Zandvoort. A total of six constructors are competing including the team of Palou's father. They are currently third in the championship.

So IndyCar driver Palou is not actually part of his father's team at all but participated in the test in Portugal anyway. The Spaniard produced the fourth fastest time in the practice session. This put him behind lesser-known names such as Esteban Masson, Mari Boya and Tasanapol Inthrapuvasak. Palou set a 1.35.333 while the fastest man recorded a 1.35.019.

Palou in Formula 1 world

Agustin Canapino holds Palou in high regard. The Argentinian, who finished 21st in the IndyCar championship said that he actually thinks Palou is better than Max Verstappen. "In my eyes, Palou is more complete than Verstappen. For me, what Palou does in IndyCar is really like being an alien," he said.

So is everyone a fan of Spaniard Palou? No, definitely not. The 26-year-old motorsport driver is still at odds with McLaren's Formula 1 team. During the Singapore Grand Prix, Palou should have actually been present, but he failed. McLaren is claiming tens of millions the team lost because of the Spaniard.
