Toto Wolff is by no means impressed with the Formula 1 record Max Verstappen set by scoring his tenth consecutive Grand Prix victory. According to the Mercedes team boss, statistics are for Wikipedia, "and nobody reads that anyway".

Wolff not impressed with Verstappen F1 record

Confronted by Sky Sports with the fact that Lewis Hamilton never managed to come close to the record even in his dominant period, Wolff replied: "Our situation was a little bit different because we had two guys fighting with each other within the team. I don't know if he cares about the record, it is not something that is important for me any of those numbers. It’s for Wikipedia. Nobody reads that anyway."

Mercedes may once have been supreme at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, but this weekend was more about damage control for Hamilton and George Russell. Both drivers also caused an incident and received a time penalty for it, but the penalty did not have major consequences. The Mercedes drivers drove around in no man's land, finishing fifth and sixth.

"There were lots of incidents but you have to be careful to not be too happy about a five and six. I think we maximised the points for what was in there today. I think both penalties you can justify so we have to look at that and how we can prevent it in the future," Wolff said.
