Kevin Magnussen has said that he's ready to fight for the fourth place in the constructors' championship with Renault, with his team Haas F1 trailing the French team by 15 points at the moment.

Singapore was a very poor weekend for Haas, with both drivers coming home empty-handed while both Renault-drivers finished with points. The race before in Monza, Romain Grosjean did finish in P6, but was disqualified after the race for an illegal floor. The American team needs a strong result in Russia, and Magnussen think they might get that.

The battle is still extremely tight,” Magnussen was quoted by Checkered Flag.

“Every point counts.

“The rest of the season will be very tough.

"We have a slight gap to close to Renault, but we’ll do everything we can to do that - as always, consistency will be key.”

Haas's problems with the hypersoft compound in Singapore were an issue throughout the whole weekend, with Magnussen not even making it out of Q1, but that won't be the case in Russia according to the Dane.

“The hyper-soft tyres were slightly difficult to get working in Singapore.

“Sochi’s obviously a different track, and the temperatures will be different as well. It’ll most likely be a different story there.”

Much like Ferrari in the actual title race, Haas need a strong result in Russia to keep their hopes alive. The gap with Renault can't get any bigger than it already is, as there are only five more races after the Russian Grand Prix.
