Esteban Ocon secured his P3 on Sunday afternoon after an eventful race in Monaco. The Frenchman did a great job to keep his position, and while he lost P3 for half a lap after he pitted for inters, George Russell’s lockup into Mirabeau meant he earned Alpine’s first podium this year.

“Esteban is on the podium baby! I mean we have done it, it was a superb weekend, from the team from the simulator to now,” Ocon said happily in his post-race interview.

The Alpine driver was also awarded the Driver of the Day by the fans, and he wasn’t short of praising his team.

We've done the right lap to come in for the inters. In the practice sessions, we improved the car from the beginning to the end. We didn’t make a wrong foot in any time, even when we put the inter tyres it was the lap to do so. Yeah, I’m just enjoying the moment now to be on the podium and I hope this is the first of many.

He also finished the race without touching the wall in the changing conditions, which he could now joke about.

“I touched the wall enough yesterday, so it is less of a heart attack for the team," he added.
