Alonso snarls at Ocon: 'That was the opposite last year'

Fernando Alonso has reiterated what he thinks of his former teammate Esteban Ocon. The Spaniard makes it clear that the Frenchman was always only focusing on him, while Alonso now works remarkably well with his new teammate Lance Stroll.

Alonso made the switch from Alpine to Aston Martin this season and it proved to be an excellent choice. Whereas Alpine is in almost the same situation as last year, Aston Martin have actually made huge progress. The British team finished seventh in the constructors' championship last year and is now second.

Last year, Alonso and Ocon made contact several times, which the Spaniard, in particular, did not like. It was clear to see that Ocon often fought extra hard with his teammate and Alonso once again expressed his frustrations about this.

"He [Lance Stroll] is a driver that thinks as a teammate, as we saw in Baku. Last year I had like maybe the opposite. Always, you know, my teammate, like the first target was me. So that was obviously not beneficial for the team," said Alonso to Sky Sports.
