Pérez has the fastest pit stop in Melbourne by far
- GPblog.com
Sergio Pérez recorded the fastest pit stop at the Australian Grand Prix with 2.11 seconds. Because not everyone pitted, there was little competition in the rankings. For reference, the number two on the list was Esteban Ocon. His team took 2.65 seconds to change his tyres.
Even Pérez's second pitstop was faster than Ocon's. Interestingly, however, Red Bull did not come close to the time of Pérez's first pitstop the second time. The second pitstop went in a time of 2.62 seconds.
After the first three Formula 1 races of the season, the top ten pitstop times have been announced by DHL. First some statistics at a glance. Of these ten times, only one is from Australia and only two are from Saudi Arabia. The other seven fastest pit stops are from Bahrain.
1. Leclerc with a 2.10-second pit stop in Saudi Arabia.
2. Pérez with a pit stop of 2.11 seconds in Australia.
3. Leclerc again with a pitstop of 2.22 seconds in Bahrain.
Despite being head and shoulders above other teams in terms of pit stops during the Australia race, Red Bull is still behind Ferrari in this season's standings. This is mainly due to Leclerc's fast pits, who could collect 25 DHL points twice for quick stops. The constructors are competing for the DHL Fastest Pit Stop trophy.
