Former Toro Rosso driver Jean-Éric Vergne has taken to social media to shut down the rumours of him making a shock move to Red Bull Racing, as the Bulls still have an empty seat for next season after Daniel Ricciardo's departure.

Vergne, who drove 58 times for Toro Rosso between 2012 and 2014, hinted that a Formula One team approached him for a seat in 2019, without disclosing who the team in question was.

Currently, Vergne is on fire, as he is the reigning champion in Formula E, and he dominated the LMP2 class at Le Mans this year as well (even though his car got disqualified afterwards). The former Ferrari test driver is back on the radar of F1 teams, apparently, but that team is not Red Bull Racing, as he explains on his Twitter.

A potential return to Toro Rosso could be on the cards, however, as Pierre Gasly will likely make the step up to Red Bull Racing next season, leaving an empty seat (or two if Brendon Hartley gets sacked) at the Italian B-team.
