If you put money on Red Bull becoming world champion this year, you are not going to get rich from it. The Milton Keynes-based team has built by far the best car and there is no chance that the competition will be able to turn a deficit into a lead in eight months. Andrea Stella, Andreas Seidl's replacement at McLaren, says everyone might just have to come to terms with that.

Red Bull Racing was quite dominant from the second half of the season last year and the hope of teams and fans was that the other race teams would use the winter to close the gap to the Austrians. After all, the regulations remained pretty much the same and so there were opportunities for the competition. Those opportunities were just not seized.

There is no limit to Red Bull

Red Bull developed the RB18 fantastically, where other teams missed the mark for various reasons. McLaren, one of the teams that is also a lot less competitive than in 2022, thinks that maybe we should just give the credit to the team of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez and that maybe we just got a bit spoiled in previous years.

After all, we have seen many different drivers win in recent seasons. The wins of guys like Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon and Daniel Ricciardo came out of the blue, nobody expected it Yet it did come through because the top teams and midfield were not that far apart.

Stella: "We might even have to accept that there's a season in which one team is dominant," the McLaren team boss told Motorsport.com. He went on to argue that all formations have enough data available to make improvements. "There's no excuses for the other teams to say we don't know what to do."
