Charles Leclerc is entering his fifth year at Ferrari, but his energy remains undiminished. The driver therefore hopes to stay at Ferrari for many more years, although he has not yet discussed with his team the possibilities surrounding a contract extension.

The driver still has a commitment until the end of 2024, giving both parties some time to talk about the future. While it was previously revealed that Frederic Vasseur sees extending Leclerc's contract as a top priority, Leclerc states that this has not yet been discussed.

"I haven't thought about that yet," Leclerc stated to Motorsport.com. "There is still a long way to go: two years. Of course I will do my best. Not for the negotiations, but for myself and for the team. You will definitely hear when the negotiations start."

Leclerc makes F1 prediction

A good season start is unlikely to mean much to Ferrari this calendar year. In 2022, Leclerc still managed two wins in the first three Grands Prix, but was looking at a big gap to Max Verstappen at the end of the race year. Leclerc is therefore careful with his statements when looking ahead to the new season.

"I'm sure we did a good job with the car, but I don't really know where Red Bull stands. I don't know about Mercedes either, but I expect them to be very strong. So let's wait and see. One thing is certain after a year like last year: wherever we are after the first race, it doesn't say anything else."
