Stefano Domenicali is very happy with Formula 1's prospects. In an interview with Sky Sports the Formula 1 boss reacts to the announced engine suppliers and the rumours surrounding Porsche.

Six engine suppliers have now signed up for the new regulations that will take effect from 2026. This does not include Cadillac, as Andretti's application has still not been approved and Cadillac has not officially registered. According to Domenicali, it is great news for the sport that so many engine suppliers are interested in Formula 1.

"Just a couple of years ago we had to change the regulation because otherwise we'd have a problem," Domenicali explained. "Now we are in a situation where two very important manufacturers are joining [Ford and Audi]. Maybe some other, I don't want to say anything but maybe, you never know. This is great. The focus would be to keep the right balance between teams to shape the sport in the right way we want."

'I hope we have more news soon'

Porsche is a notable name not on the list of suppliers. By mid-2022, it seemed like a matter of time before the German brand would also be added to the sport, but after negotiations with Red Bull Racing fell through, things remained anxiously quiet around Porsche. Domenicali was asked if he had any update around the brand's status.

"It would be easy for me to say check with them," the chairman laughed. "I think Porsche are thinking if there are chances that can be available for them. Of course, more time that passes, the harder it is to be effective with the commercial and technical preposition. I really hope we can have some more news in the short term."
