Horner: "It's hugely flattering to be asked by Ferrari"

Ferrari had to look for a new team boss this winter after Mattia Binotto was shown the door. For many team bosses, working for Ferrari in Formula 1 is a dream, but Christian Horner has not been tempted to send a job application. He told Auto, Motor und Sport. Furthermore, the 49-year-old Briton states that Mattia Binotto is highly unlikely to join Red Bull in the near future.

"To be honest with you no because you know I’ve been here since the very beginning," Horner began to say. "I feel very much you know responsible for the team. It’s a great group of people that I work with. And I think that I’ve never been tempted away. I feel a loyalty to Red Bull and of course the people here. When you’re working with such a a great team why would you want to be anywhere else."

Horner got a call once

In the past, Horner has once been asked to make the switch to Ferrari, although it is not entirely clear in the interview whether he was approached in 2022, or if it was much longer ago. There were , however, rumours that Horner was asked to join the troops in Maranello before Frederic Vasseur.

"It's hugely flattering to be asked by Ferrari but they’re a great team and I’m sure they’re going to be very competitive." The Red Bull team boss goes on to say that it was not difficult to sell a 'no'.

No Binotto at Red Bull

"I don’t see what role he (Binotto) would perform," Horner says. According to the top man, Binotto has many qualities and was also responsible for Ferrari taking a big step forward in 2022, but a move to Red Bull is all but ruled out. " But there’s other opportunities for him further down the grid." Toto Wolff also previously revealed he sees little point in Binotto's arrival.
