Formula 1 is more popular than ever. Whereas in recent years it has been scarce in terms of new teams and manufacturers, they are now lining up in their numbers. A new name on the list is that of Cadillac.

Since Liberty Media took over, F1 has become increasingly popular. The sport was always big, but with the arrival of Drive to Survive and three Grands Prix in the United States, attention has only increased. This also attracts brands that are only too happy to commit to the king class of motorsport.

The arrival of Cadillac

2026 is a good time to get in. Then comes a new engine regulation and an accompanying budget cap for engine manufacturers. Audi has already signed up for that season as an engine manufacturer. An additional engine manufacturer is a big step forward, but there are more hijackers on the coast.

Michael Schmidt of Auto, Motor und Sport writes that Ford, Cadillac and Hyundai are knocking on F1's door. Of Ford and Hyundai, this had been known for some time, but the US car brand's name is a new addition to the list. Schmidt also stated that Porsche is still interested in F1, despite its failed deal with Red Bull Racing.

Still, it remains to be seen whether all these names will actually be seen in F1. After all, the sport does not just bring in teams overnight. A solid plan must be ready, including one that can convince the other teams to hand over part of the prize money. Andretti, for instance, is encountering a lot of resistance because other teams do not want to hand in money at the expense of a new team.
