Will Vasseur take acquaintances to Ferrari? 'He will definitely do that'

Frederic Vasseur 's move to Ferrari comes as no surprise to Ralf Schumacher, he reveals to Sky Sports Deutschland. While the Italian formation saw in him the dream candidate, it would not be bad for the new team boss to leave Sauber either.

Indeed, with the future cooperation between Sauber and Audi, Schumacher said the question was where Vasseur's future lay. "The change comes at the right time for him, as he was probably not at the top of Audi's list either," the former Formula 1 driver noted.

Big challenge for Vasseur

At Ferrari, a big task lies ahead for Vasseur. The successor to Mattia Binotto ostensibly has chances to go for the world title next season, but to do so, a number of adjustments will have to be made internally. This calendar year went a lot wrong on a personal, strategic and technical level.

Schumacher will not be surprised if Vasseur chooses to let some of Sauber's confidants make the same switch. "The question will be who he can take with him. He will definitely take some acquaintances from Sauber to Ferrari, because there will also be a restructuring there."

Should Vasseur succeed, it will still be a challenge for him at Ferrari. "It will be difficult for him to get used to the new culture and deal with the pressure that will be there at Ferrari. But I trust Fred will be able to withstand that."
