The Silly Season normally consists of transfers for drivers, but now it is a carousel among team bosses. GPblog lists for you exactly what has happened and what is yet to happen.

On Tuesday morning, transfer chaos erupted among team bosses. Rumours that Frederic Vasseur would make the switch to Ferrari had been in the air for some time, but following that there have been many more interesting changes.

Silly Season among team bosses

It all actually started on Monday, when Williams announced they are parting ways with team boss Jost Capito and technical director François-Xavier Demaison. That announcement was followed up on Tuesday morning with the news that Vasseur will leave Alfa Romeo, and not much later Ferrari announced that Vasseur will become the new team boss there.

With this, the carousel was not over, as McLaren also announced that Andreas Seidl will leave. The McLaren team boss will be replaced by performance engineer Andrea Stella. Seidl, in turn, will make the move to Sauber, where he will become CEO of the team that will partner Audi in 2026. Seidl had previously worked at Porsche under the Volkswagen Group umbrella.

Seidl is thus expected to manage the transition from Alfa Romeo to Audi as CEO, but thus still has to look for a new team boss. Possibly that is where the departed Capito at Williams comes into the picture, who has also previously been a successful part of the Volkswagen Group.

Ferrari and McLaren have filled the vacant positions, at Sauber (the role of team principal) and Williams (team principal and technical director) there are still vacancies. The question is by whom and when these spots will be filled.
