Ocon excited about Gasly as teammate: 'I can't wait'

Esteban Ocon talks to French newspaper Ouest-France about the future collaboration with Pierre Gasly. Next season, the two French drivers will race together for Alpine and, according to Ocon, this could just be a success.

Alpine seems to be taking a risk in recruiting Gasly. Indeed, the two men have clashed on several occasions in the past, so the new teammates will have to prove to the outside world that things are better now.

Ocon on working with Gasly

The formation itself expressed confidence in Gasly and Ocon on several occasions. To the French medium, the latter driver does the same. Whereas he did not have a nice rapport with Fernando Alonso, he is convinced that the cooperation with Gasly will be a lot better.

"We have known each other very well for several years. The first time he got into a kart was also my first time. We drove together on the same tracks, in the same competitions," he reflected. "We had a dream: to drive in Formula 1 together. And we achieved it. I can't wait to get started." Ocon hopes to compete in the sub-top with Alpine in 2023, although he knows the challenge will be great.
