Magnussen on Silverstone: "One of the best circuits for these new cars"

Kevin Magnussen and his Haas team will be on a massive high on route to the Silverstone circuit. He was part of the teams best ever finish in F1 at their 50th Grand Prix last weekend. He expects Silverstone to bond well with the new cars suggesting it could be one of the best circuits for them.

Despite this, he doesn't believe overtaking will be easy. Last time out in Britain, he finished ahead of his team-mate Romain Grosjean but behind rivals McLaren, Renault and Force India.

In his interview on Formula 1.com, he repeats the thoughts of other drivers about the circuit.

"Silverstone is defiantly one of the good circuits. It's really fast, and you've got some big sections with fast changes of directions," Magnussen said.

"I enjoy driving the circuit. [It's] probably one of the best circuits for these new cars. We all know that high-speed corners are the most impressive in a Formula One car, and Silverstone is all about that," echoing opinions of hardcore F1 fans.

The Dane went on to comment about overtaking on the track. An extra DRS zone has been added which includes the first two flat-out corners. But Magnussen always looks at the straights and insists his car needs good speed this weekend.

"Silverstone is actually a challenging circuit to overtake. It is quite difficult to follow other cars. You do have some good straights, so if you're a good chunk faster, then you will be able to overtake," he added.
