Formula 1 has compiled the Power Ranking after the Brazilian Grand Prix, in which Kevin Magnussen took pole position on Friday and George Russell won the sprint race and the Grand Prix. Max Verstappen is missing in the top ten.

Mercedes back on track

After each race F1.com gives each driver a grade. The jury consists of five experts who judge the drivers on their performance and omit car performance in their assessment. The average of the five marks given by the judges to a driver becomes his final grade and after the tumultuous Brazilian Grand Prix, George Russell was declared the strongest driver.

Russell took his first F1 victory in Brazil and also immediately Mercedes' first win this season. Russell started from P1, having also won the sprint race on Saturday. The reward for his work is a 10 on his report card. Also on P2 is the driver who finished in P2 in Sao Paulo; Lewis Hamilton earned an 8.8. Two other honourable mentions are for Magnussen on P6 and Sebastian Vettel on P8. Magnussen grabbed his first pole position and Haas F1's first on Friday in treacherous conditions. Vettel qualified 13th and worked his way up to P9 (just short of a point) with his Aston Martin in the sprint race and on Sunday he was on P7, but the late safety car dropped him to P11 (again just short of a point).

Top of the championship

Missing from the top ten is reigning world champion Verstappen. The Dutchman is still the leader in the power rankings seen over the whole season, but in the top ten strongest drivers after the Brazilian GP weekend, the Red Bull Racing driver cannot be found. This may be due to the fact that Verstappen had lost two positions at the finish line compared to his starting position in both the sprint race and the regular race. Brazil's Power Ranking appears to be a tale of fallen greats. Sergio Perez is also missing from the top ten; Charles Leclerc is seen back on P7.
