Verstappen: "It's really special what we are achieving together this year"

The usually down-to-earth Max Verstappen is slowly becoming a lot prouder of himself and his team. The Dutchman, after winning the Mexico GP, calls it a very special season for Red Bull Racing.

Verstappen sees how special 2022 season is

Verstappen drove a rock-solid race and single-handedly made sure the one-stop on the two softer compounds worked in Mexico. The two-time world champion was already fastest on Saturday and on Sunday he held off two attacking Mercedes on the long straight after the start. Verstappen then drove unchallenged to his fourteenth victory of the year.

In a Red Bull press statement, Verstappen said the first stint was crucial to. The different strategies between Mercedes and Red Bull meant that Verstappen had to win the first corner and pay close attention to his tyres. Verstappen: "Winning 14 races in a season is incredible, we’re having an amazing year as a team and that’s the most important thing. We keep on pushing and we want to win as many races as possible, it’s really special what we are all achieving together this year."
