Logan Sargeant will get a chance to get to know the Williams car a little better in Mexico. The American will be in action during the first free practice session for the Grove-based team.

Sargeant has been confirmed by Williams as the driver for 2023. The American has yet to get his super licence, but with all tests scheduled and a current third place in the F2 championship, that does not seem to be a problem. Sargeant needs to finish at least eighth in the championship in addition to all tests. The final Formula 2 race is in Abu Dhabi.

Opportunity for Sargeant

Meanwhile, Williams is already getting it's junior ready for his debut in F1 next season. In America, the 21-year-old driver already made his appearance in the FW44 and he will do so again in Mexico. During the first free practice session, he will take over the seat from Alexander Albon.

''I’m excited to be getting back in the car for FP1 in Mexico and building on the progress I made in Austin. My first session gave me a chance to reference the driveability of the car, the way it handles and how it feels on the brakes. All these learnings will help me to visualise everything and make the necessary changes before I go into my second FP1 session,'' the American revealed in the Williams press release.

''Being able to have the experience of driving an F1 car at high altitude will be beneficial to my development. I’m looking forward to working with Alex’s side of the garage this weekend and providing the team with feedback to help their race preparations'', concludes Sargeant.
