Fernando Alonso’s manager has played down speculation over the current debate about where the Spaniard will race next season. Luis Garcia Abad confirms nothing yet has been decided.

“Of course you always have the option of staying or leaving, or choosing one of the two, but nothing is decided. This is speculation that comes from the environment around Formula one and its more than 500 million spectators and the large number of media,” Alonso’s boss Abad told Onda Cero radio.

“We are calm, and when the time comes to make the decision, he will take it as always.”

It’s no secret that Alonso still has the ability to win races. That was confirmed when he won the 24 hour Le Mans last weekend. Alonso must be getting bored, but he himself goes on to claim that McLaren are in a transition year, and he hopes they can improve next season.

"We are not yet able to win the world championship, but we want to join the race for victories as soon as possible. I believe this year is a transition year for us, but we are moving in the right direction," the Spaniard added.

"The transition to Renault engines has been successful, as we are fighting for higher positions and earning points in almost every race, but it takes time for the cooperation to become truly fruitful.”

Perhaps it is this which could help Alonso remain motivated for F1 in the future.
