Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko describes the confusing moments after it was announced that Max Verstappen had secured his world championship after all. He also reveals the team's next goals.

Austrian channel ServusTV 's"Sport and Talk from Hangar-7" programme discussed the championship decision. There was a surprised reaction by many as no one had taken into account the scenario on which the awarding of points went.

Bizarre

"Somehow, everything is bizarre," said Marko, who was present via video link from Japan. He added that they all assumed they would miss a point. "Only when the spokesman congratulated Max did we look at each other. Adrian Neweysaid: 'Can that be true? " The Austrian continued that they assumed there would only be half points, but so that was not the case. "But it doesn't matter, we are world champions!"

For Marko, this is also a good time to look back at the start of the season and cites Verstappen's statements. After the more than bumpy start, the Dutchman said they needed 33 or 36 races to catch up. " Thank God it went faster," said the Austrian.

Crucial

The advisor to the Milton Keynes-based team called it an excellent team performance and said it was crucial to have better reliability than rival Ferrari. But it also required an excellent performance from Max. Marko does not remember much from the race at Suzuka, but concluded that he thought the manoeuvre after the start against Leclerc was "unearthly".
