While the drivers were in the pit lane during the red flag, a furious Pierre Gasly could be seen several times. Images from his car show exactly why: he narrowly missed a tractor, which was on the track and almost invisible due to the pouring rain.

Gasly upset over a vehicle on track

After Carlos Sainz's crash, a tractor had to be brought in to tow the Ferrari off the track. However, there was no red flag yet, and so this caused an extremely dangerous situation. Gasly was rightly angry, especially since 2014 saw his good friend Jules Bianchi crash into a recovery vehicle at full speed - at Suzuka, of all places. Bianchi fell into a coma as a result of the accident and died on 17 July 2015.

Over the team radio, a furious Gasly sounded. "What is this? What is this tractor on track?! I passed next to it. This unacceptable. Remember what has happened. Can't believe this," said an emotional Gasly.

A Brazilian TV reporter, Mariana Becker said: "Gasly was furious because he saw two tractors on the track after the red flag was deployed. He was really close with Bianchi that died after hitting a tractor here in Suzuka, so that's why he is so angry".
