Lando Norris' qualifying was slow in the end, but after a near-miss incident with Max Verstappen, it's clear to see why the Brit might've struggled in Q3. The McLaren driver attempted to overtake the current World Championat 130R due to the slow-moving car, but Verstappen lost his rear and swerved into the line of the speeding Norris, causing him to take evasive action and end up on the grass.

No damage occurred, but when questioned about whether Verstappen should receive a penalty, Norris gave Sky Sports a straightforward answer: "Oh yeah for sure."

He went on to add his confusion with why the Dutchman would need to defend in that scenario, explaining that he swerved into him, "I mean it was quite clear he tried to do that yeah. There’s no rule on doing what you can do, doing what he did, is something you can not do. People always overtake on the last corner, as much as people always agree to [not doing] it, everyone always does so it doesn’t matter. He probably would’ve done the same in my situation but I wouldn’t have swerved at him if I was in his situation."

Rain might not be a positive for McLaren

Norris finished off by sharing his thoughts on the incoming rain during the race tomorrow and that it might not be the best option compared to the opportunity of a dry race, "I think it’s [going to be] tough. I’m not too convinced on either one so maybe a middle ground and just opportunities to try different things so if it’s in-between wet or dry maybe that’s the best situation for us, that's a bit of a wish. So we just need to wait and see and maximise what we do."
