Carlos Sainz would probably not have won the Dutch Grand Prix, but all his chances of fighting for a podium finish were taken away from him by the team. In Monza, all must be well if the team is to win again. Sainz thinks it is possible.

Ferrari's failed pit stop at Circuit Zandvoort during the Dutch Grand Prix was yet another blunder by the team, with the Italians wasting many points. The start of the season was strong, but despite the fast Ferrari F1-75 that the team has built, they are not yet able to get the maximum points out of it as a team. Speaking to Sky Sports Sainz talks about the team's latest blunder.

Yet another Ferrari blunder, yet another learning moment

"I think by now it is clear that the decision [for the pit stop] came too late," the Spaniard began. "That's in the past now, but it's another example of something we need to improve as a team; things we need to go through to become a more solid, robust and perfect team." Sainz says the team's blunders are necessary obstacles to learn and perfect. After all, the team's first and biggest goal this year has already been achieved; to fight for victories.

Sainz continued: "The aim is to always be there and to win. We have a competitive car that is competitive almost everywhere, so we have many chances for podiums and victories. This [Monza] is not the best track for us on paper, but at the same time Monza is so special that anything can happen. At the same time it is so unique that you can be much more competitive than you expect."
