Charles Leclerc's first ever home Grand Prix ended in tears as he crashed out of the Monaco Grand Prix, but the rookie was frustrated with how the rest of his race was going as well.

It was the first time since 1994 that a Monegasque driver competed in the Monaco Grand Prix, but it didn't go as planned for Charles Leclerc. He was having a decent race but then his brakes failed, and his weekend ended in the gearbox of Brendon Hartley.

"I'm not happy at all with this weekend," Leclerc told Ziggo Sport.

"We had pretty good pace, but you're stuck behind other drivers the entire afternoon.

"It's super frustrating, because Hartley was holding me up the whole race."

It was also Brendon Hartley who Leclerc took with him when his brakes failed him, something neither driver could do anything about.

"The braking pedal became longer each lap and at one point I just lost it.

"I tried to steer right as much as possible but I couldn't dodge Brendon.

"I'm sorry for him, but I really could do nothing about it."
